A child’s dream
Her parents watching from the doorframe, arms wrapped around each other
Have no idea
Of the beauty racing through her mind
Of the thoughts behind closed lids
Their eyes rise to the city above
Burning flames shine in their eyes
They are the people
The have reclaimed what is their mother’s
The loving caress of jungle washes away their sin
The vines and flowers bursting into blooms of vibrancy
The trees sprouting and towering, spindling from the ashes
Birds, shrieking a pleasant song
Flock through the skies
No longer musky sepia
But clear and blue
Glowing sun beaming as wings are stretched
The beasts of the land return
The lion lifting its head to relieve itself of a triumphant growl
As it again takes its throne
The elk bray, in great waves racing through the savanna
The wolves in the pack howling victory
The lamb bleating its pleasure as it meanders through rolling green hills
And the beasts of the sea
Give out their glorious song
The gentle giants surfacing, then diving under, groaning in joyous sound
The fish of the ocean scream in joy as they freely swim
The gentle manatees of the river swirl in lazy circles, no longer fearful
The smallest crab clambers unto the shore to gaze about in amazement
And the mighty shark skims gleefully as it restores order
The world blooms
Brown and gold and emerald
The sea and skies glimmering blue
The fauna lush and green
The blooms orange, pink, white, and yellow
The deserts sandy in their swirling elegance
The artic billowing and white
The mountains ancient and towering jaggedly
And man
Man, simplified again, looks on this world
Man and woman, dark eyes gleaming
Set foot once again
To replace themselves in the great net that is life
To earn their throne
To govern wiser than they ever had
To be the guardians they were originally meant to stand as
Their wings finally found
And this child, asleep, smiled at her dream of this second chance
(Have you ever stopped to wonder... what Earth would have been like... if we head treated her right?)
