"DON'T TOUCH ME!"
"TAIFU, GET BACK HERE!"
"SHUT UP!"
"TAIFU, PLEASE, I-"
"NO! I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU WOULD DO THIS TO HIM - TO US!"
"HE'S TO THE AGE WHERE HE NEEDS THIS TRAINING! Please... Taifu...."
Junsui hid behind the door to their bedroom as he listened to his parents fight, and slid down the side of the wall, nervous. It was about him... he just knew it. Only two days previously, he had managed to grab hijack his mom's car, drive himself and his friends to the arcade at two in the morning, realized it was closed and so went roaming the streets in the car trying to pick up pretty girls like in the movies, then ended up getting arrested for not having a liscence. His parents had managed to bail him out, and the other kids were left with warnings. But his mother hadn't been very forgiving, while his father had gone somewhat mysterious. Of course... this wasn't the worst he had ever done... but it seemed to be a last straw for his parents.
"Taifu... he needs this training. He's unfocused - you can tell." He timidly watched as his father put his hands on the woman's arms, leaning his head into her. Junsui quickly jerked back around the corner as his father's eyes roamed the room, but remained listening. "Taifu... he needs to learn self restraint. Irkens are... destructive... unless taught."
"Why can't you teach him?"
"Because I'm destructive."
Silence prevailed for a long time. "He's only twelve...."
"Yes, perhaps a bit too old...."
Taifu turned around, biting her lip, stroking Zim's cheek. "He's our son." Zim's maroon eyes were gentle but stern, and she sighed, seeing that he had already won. "They aren't going to teach him emotionless crap, are they?"
"No... I've requested specifically that they don't."
"And you know they won't because...."
"Because I threatened to blow them up."
"Oh." She leaned into him as he stroked her hair, nuzzling into her. Her fingers curled upon his chest, her eyes starring into his maroon shirt.
"He'll be fine." Zim whispered, "It'll only be a few years...."
"YEARS!?"
"Yes. Years. Certainly you didn't expect him to go for a day?" She whimpered, leaning against him.
"Zim...."
"Mom...." The two paused, freezing at the voice. The boy entered the room, black eyes confident, antennas straight. "I'll be fine." He nodded, biting his lip. Taifu left Zim, cradling her boy, who sighed against her chest. His eyes rose to his father's, which stared him over, assessing him. Junsui nodded. "I'll go." He guiltily looked down at the floor. "But before I do... I'm sorry."
"Junsui... don't apologize." Taifu whispered, pulling away, biting her lip. She couldn't stay angry with this child... no matter how hard she tried. She didn't know how to communicate that she had enjoyed every minute of him - good and bad. Her child had grown so much from the small smeet she'd balance on her hip while cleaning up after Gir's messes. She brushed a lock of hair from his eyes, and smilled. There were no words that could describe her heart, but he smilled sheepishly, looking at the ground. "You're sure...."
"Yes mam."
She nodded, stroking his cheek. "Hey... if anyone calls you short... claw their eyes out." she teased, and he rolled his eyes, leaning against her. But his eyes continued to search his father's.
And finally, Zim stepped forward, gesturing Junsui away from his mother. He appraised the child... and then did something he hadn't done in years.
Leaning down, he licked his child's head, grooming him softly, cautiously, afraid of reaction. But Junsui nearly bowed his head and allowed his antennas to be flattened into place, the usual grime removed from his forehead. Zim finally finished, and stuck his tongue out, wipping it on his sleeve. "You taste nasty." he said.
"Well, you probably taste worse." Junsui snickered, wipping the spit off his head. "What was that for?"
"You looked stupid with the dirt on your face." Zim smirked lightly, "And the son of ZIM must not look stupid when presented to the Tallests." And with wide, confused eyes, Junsui stared into his father's snickering face.
"Who?"
Zim's smirk only widened. "I suppose... they'd be... your teachers." And with that, he was led away, the males leaving a lone woman with a pale face to have reality slammed upon her.
And with a groan, Taifu sunk unto the bed, pulling a pillow over her head. "Damn you... damn you all." But on her face... was the faintest smile... the smile of one who had pride thrust upon them again and again.
