In the darkness, well into the night, Taifu's eyes slit open. And she sat up, staring at the wall, grimacing as a she clawed at her forehead. Her skin burned, and her head pounded. She could hear her own blood thumping past her ears.
She stayed like this all through the night.
___
Dib gawked in third period class. Zim had assigned silent reading from the textbook - a task most everyone had completed. Yet, he didn't seem to mind the chatter, staring pleasantly with his feet on his desk, gazing down at his lap, eyes partially closed. Dib recognized the symptons of a slight hang-over in him.
He glanced to Taifu, who was tapping her pen impatiently. She looked horrible, wavering back and forth in her seat as she tried to stay awake. She hadn't even finished the book, dozing off. His face contorted in concern when she final slipped out of he desk, thumping unto the floor with a distressed moan. But she didn't get back up, but merely laid there, eyes staring at the ceiling.
"Zim!" Dib snapped, and the teacher looked up, a bit slow to react.
"No... don't get him." Taifu's voice was exhausted, more of a low whine than anything. Zim kneeled beside her, feeling her skin. She adverted her eyes, closing them, looking very insecure as Dib and Zim hovered over her.
"Taifu, have you been getting enough sleep?" Zim asked sternly. She didn't look at him, but gave a meek shrug. He sighed, and rubbed his hand over his eyes. "Uh... Dib, please escort her to the clinic. Tell the nurse I said she could stay there to sleep until she's able to stay awake."
Dib nodded, but gave a glance at Zim. "Hey, you okay? You look like you have a hang-over."
Zim's smile was mysterious, but wonderfully joyous. "Oh yes... yes I do."
Dib blinked, shook his head, and supported Taifu as she slipped in and out of conciousness.

(Did she drink to much or sumptin?)
Zim was cheerful all day, sure the headache was a bit of a bother but he enjoyed every minute of it. it let him know that this was actually happening. He couldn't wait till the end of the day so he could return to the host club and talk with Note.
"Zim-san Could you come and see me after school." Kinki asked after third period finally ended.
Zim sighed rubbing his temples. "I guess i could make time." He then shooed Kinki away.

(that's actually a major issue with hosts is that they often become alcoholics and drink unhealthly amounts of alcohol.)
Miyaki glanced up from the nurse, glancing as Dib came in. She frowned when she saw Taifu. "Should I even ask?" she asked as Dib deposited her on a cot. Dib's nose was scrunched up.
"She smells like alcohol. Zim-sensi said she can stay and sleep till she wakes up." he muttered, leaving the room. Miyaki watched after him, then too the nurse.
"Thanks for the package, dear." The nurse said to Miyaki, glancing nervously at Taifu. She was an older woman, wrinkles webbing across her face. Miyaki watched as the woman placed a needle in Taifu's arm, drawing fluids. She examined it for a long moment, and sighed, shaking her head. "Too much alcohol."
"Alcohol?" Miyaki asked sharply.
"Yes, alcoholism is becoming a major problem in our youth these days." the old woman sighed, resting a hand on Taifu's forehead. She looked at Miyaki's concerned expression. "Oh, don't you worry now. She'll be fine by this afternoon, let her get her rest. You go right on back to class."
Miyaki nodded, and stared at Taifu, who seemed smaller than usual.
___
A few hours later, Taifu was indeed healthier. Healthy enough to scale a wall down, clinging to cracks in the brick walls of the school, grasping vines as they descended. Dib followed awkwardly. Technically, they shouldn't have been leaving school grounds, but they had jobs to attend.
"Ember Host and Hostess club... Taifu, what do I do as a hostess?"
"Just entertain guys and lesbians for a while. I won't see you around, since I work in the back at the bar, but trust me, you'll make much more money than I do. Just don't drink too much and you'll be fine." Taifu called up, and grasped a treenbranch, skidding down it. He looked down at her - that was the most she had said to him in a long time.
"Are you always this happy when you go to work at shady bars?" he asked, and she glared up again, taking on her regular silence. But there was a slight gleam in her eye.

Zim was so eager to get to the host club that he almost forgot to stop by Kinki's home on the way out. "Cursed Appointments." he sighed. Clearly he didn't want to go to her house but with Kinki being a psychic it was probably for the best that he did go.
As he barged in to the building he shouted. "Can we make this quick I really need to go."
"Back to the host club?" Kinki smirked she was seated at the usual table and had a waffle set out for Zim.
Zim blushed closing the door. "Yes."
"Yes this meeting was about that." Kinki gestured at the seat she had placed for him and sighing Zim sat down. "Firtst of all eat yuor waffle it'll help get rifd of your hangover."
Zim looked at it and rolling his eyes began to eat it.
"Second of all, don't buy so many drinks for your host today. In fact just don't buy any drinks at all. Your making Note and yourself sick."
Zim sighed. "Any thing else?"
"I presume you know that Dib just started working there too right?"
"WHAT!?"

Kinki nodded. "It's true... he's a hostess."
"But he's a guy!"
"Yes... but he decided that hosting as a male wasn't worth his identity possibly being revealed here at the school." Kinki said calmly, sipping her tea. She glanced up. "Zim san, I am serious about the alcohol. The host clubs often turn young hosts and hostesses into alcoholics. But it would be rude for them to decline a drink. They are dedicating themselves to the fantasy relationships of their costumers. Be wise, and show that it is more than your fantasy than you are worried about, and you'll find that your fantasies will merge." His eyes grew wide, and he leaned forward.
"Not even a little champaigne?"
"Zim."
"Fine." he said, and stood, a smile crossing his face.
It didn't take him long at all to leave the school.
___
Dib fidgetted in his dress - simple, white, and 'angelic'. He found it short and cold, personally. He had bid Taifu farewell at the bar, changed into his uniform, and was waiting for a customer, kicking his legs nervously. He jumped as a boy sat down beside him, a light smile on their face. "A-are you a customer?" he asked timidly.
"No, I'm a host." the boy said, a smirk on his face. Dib's heart pounded as the boy leaned towards him a bit, that mysterious smile capturing him, dark eyes causing his heart to race.
"Note! Get over here!"
"Yes Niki." He smilled back at Dib with a wink, and left quickly.

Zim stood next to Niki as he waited for Note. The boy had been talking to another host who Zim shockingly recognized as Dib. 'okay, Zim.' He though to himself. 'Just avoid Dib and no one will know you were here.'
"Hey Zim." Note said kindly. He seemed happier today than he had been yesterday, which made Zim very curious. As Note led him to a table he asked casually. "You gonna be ordering any drinks tonight?"
Zim was about to answer with a definet YES when he remembered what he was told and sigh. "No thanks. I ended up with a really bad hangover last time."
Note actually seemed relieved that Zim and decided not to get drinks. "yeah hangovers aren't fun." Note nodded.

"So...." Zim sat down, smilling at Note slyly, who sat, his hair falling before his eyes.
"Black hair today, huh?" Zim glanced up, and cursed, mentally slapping himself. But the look on Note's face was priceless. "It's very nice... and the way you styled it...." Note picked at the soft spikes Taifu had fashioned Zim's hair into the term before, his expression gentle. Zim nearly choked as a finger brushed his cheek. "It's quite stunning, really."
"Um...." Zim looked away, a deep blush on his features. "So... anyway...." he drummed his fingers on the tabletop - it had been so much easier with the alchohol. "Where do you live?" The question slipped out before he realized how creepy it sounded. Note took a second to stare at him, then chuckled.
"Well... I got kicked out of my parent's house this past year. I mean, I checked out an apartment on the other side of town out for a little while... but I've just been mostly... you know... around." He was hesitant to explain, and muttered "Please don't tell anybody that." Zim made a motion as if zipping his lips, and Note smirked. "Thanks, hon, you're the best." Zim felt like his heart caught aflame, could feel his cheeks burning hot, conjuring a stiffled giggle from Note. "So what about you?"
"Me? Well... eh... I er... don't tell anyone this, but I'm a school teacher at the all-girls school not too far from here. My boss would fire me if he found outI'm here... or his secretary would, anyway." Note gave a nod, his eyes deep and calm. "So... I board there. I got fired from my actual job... hit pretty hard, too."
"What was your actual job?"
"I can't tell you." Zim whispered lowly, his eyes falling away as he lost his courage. But he felt warmth radiate through him as Note scooted beside him, cupping his face. There was a long, silent stare, those deep eyes transfixed, as if asking him to be set free. He hummed as Note's forehead touched his own, then pulled away.
Note held an odd stare, turning away wish a blush against his cheeks. Zim leaned forward."So... what do you like to do?"
"I like to play music."
"Rock and role, huh?"
"No. Classical." Zim blinked, as Note looked away sheepishly. "But please, Zim, this is all about you." Under the sincerity he caught a bit of venom, and shook his head, taking Note's hand, aligning his three fingers against Note's five. Note stared in awe, then looked up. Zim knew that Note had been expecting some flattered laugh, but Zim was sharper than that.
"No, Note. This is about you as well."
Note's hand tugged away, and the boy stumbled up, a dark blush across his face. "I-I have to use the bathroom." he stammered, dashing away, breaking host etiquette as he left Zim alone to smirk slyly.
___
Dib stumbled into the bathroom, clutching his head. The customer's were driving him nuts, many middle aged men. He remembered with a groan that he couldn't go in the men's bathroom dressed as a woman, and was about to turn out when he caught the sound of a stiffled sob.
He stared, shocked, as he watched Note scrub desperately at his face, trying to rid of tears. "N-Note?"
"Huh?" Note's head snapped up, and he looked behind him at Dib. He shook his head. "They say you should never let a customer get to close if you care about them. But I care about Zim... but I don't know if it's like that... but what if it was... this sucks." Note rambled, drying his tears on his sleeve. "I don't want him to spend all his money on me, but he will just to see me, I know. And he'll run broke and I'll be to blame." Note simply took a flask of wine from off the display on a shelf, teething off the cap and taking a good long swig. Dib backed out of the bathroom, watching as Note began drowning his sorrows.
He backed right into Zim, and yelped, pointing, mouth wide open. "Zim, what the hell are you doing here? What did you do to that Note guy?" he rambled, shaking Zim.
"What? What's wrong with-"
"Nothing, Zim, nothing." Dib winced as he watched Note stumble from the bathroom. Note pointed at the science teacher, dizzy-looking. "A hon, we're getting a hotel room tonight, alright? You an' me. I need the cash, you need some... ugh... yeah." Note glared at Dib as he passed, looping an arm around Zim.
Dib stared - Note had gotten himself drunk in less than a few seconds. Then again, he could onlly imagine how many drinks he had before Dib had found him. And even worse, Zim was grinning broadly, but his face scrunched up. "Is there going to be sex?"
"No, no, course not. Ain't no prostitute. No nudity, just you, me, clothes, and a bed." Note was swaggering a bit in his step, his pretty face beaming in his drunkeness. "Come on, hon. You know I'm just a beggar. Need cash. Need some love in this world... keep it going. Need a place to sleep. Can't go back to room... like this... get kicked out. Please, Zim?"

Zim looked uncertainly about this. Wasn't there some kind of law against this kind of thing. He glanced up at Dib and flinched at the hateful glare he was receiving. "Umm, I'm not so sure if that's such a good idea." Zim was fidgeting. He really did want to talk more with Note. And the fact that Note said there WOULDN'T be sex made Zim feel a little more secure in his actions but at the same time...
"Well, why not?" note demanded losing balance for a second before catching himself. "I told you it's nothing bad. i-I just need a place to crash till I'm not so lightheaded."
"Why were you drinking anyway?" Zim asked. "I didn't order any drinks because I didn't want you getting sick!"
Dib looked at Zim a little surprised. "you actually didn't?"
"No I didn't but that doesn't seem to matter now seeing as he's drunk anyway." Zim growled at Dib.
"So Zim?" Zim looked up to Note and he couldn't help himself.
"Okay." He sighed rubbing his temples. "Where are we going?"

"I dunno... your pick...." Zim exhaled sharply as he was tugged forward by his shirt collar, Note's breath lingering, reaking of wine. His face was as serious as he could make in his drunk stupor. "Don't spend lots of money on me."
"Zim, are you kidding? Look at how small he is! He can't be much older than I am!" Dib yelped, and Note glared.
"Hey, some people my age are housewives and firemen. I think I'm pretty lucky. I've got a place to sleep tonight, and someone to make sure I don't get snagged off the street." Note remarked, shrugging deeper into his jacket. He glanced at Zim, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth, and he took the Irken's hand.
"Excuse me, Dib." Zim said awkwardly, blushing in embarrassment at the cruel gaze he received. He glanced down as Note leaned against him as they walked, looking solemn. He stopped, leaving Zim for a moment to sign out for the night, receiving a few complaints from Niki, but soon returned.
The streets buzzed, cars and bicycles working through congested traffic, the crowd about seeming to close around in a suffocating bind. Note took Zim's arm, pointing up at a tall but shabby looking building. "I've stayed there before - not as bad as it looks. Cheap enough. Pay for a room near the top and nobody bothers you." His dark eyes stared up at Zim's contacts as they continued to weave through the crowd. At the moment, Zim felt more like a parent escorting a child than a couple, as he worked desperately to keep Note at his side.
"Why did you get yourself drunk?" he asked at last, able to contain the question no longer.
Note grimaced, and looked away. "I don't know... I don't even know anymore... it just makes the world feel better... you know?"
"But why would you feel the need for it? I believe I was kind enough."
Note sighed, closing his eyes. "I... I don't want you to get too clingy, Zim." Zim glancd down nervously. "This is bad for business to warn you... but a host uses your emotions to make money. People who get attatched to their hosts pay more money to see them more often, and once they grow broke, the hosts just ditch them. When you said it was about both of us... I don't want to hurt you. I don't want you to waste all your money seeing me."
"So you don't care?"
"If I didn't care, Zim, I wouldn't be telling you this. You can be really sweet, and... different. I-I'm not your host tonight. I just... am." Note stopped in the midst of the crowd, people brushing by him, but he seemed adapted to the streets, holding his ground. His gaze held Zim's for a long moment before he blushed, looking away, and Zim did as well. It was a bit awkward now that they were outside the club, now that Note was no longer on job, no longer a host, but an equal who seemed have more concern for Zim's finances than his own. But it was lovely at the same time, something blooming.
"Note."
"Hmm?"
Zim nodded, and took Note's hand, leading him through the crowd toward the hotel.

(AWE ITS SO CUUUUTE! X3)
Note was right the hotel wasn't that bad. Zim did as the boy suggested and got a room near the top. Note and Zim talked for a while before Note fell asleep and Zim, sitting next to him sighed. This was nice, but it still seemed a little off. Zim knew it was wrong for a teacher to like someone so much younger, but he couldn't help it.
Brushing Note's hair out of his face Zim smiled. "maybe a nice nap wouldn't hurt." he scooted over closer to Note and fell asleep on top of the covers next to him.

Dib entered his dorm with a yawn, rubbing profusely at his eyes. He glanced around, squinting in the dark. Something... something was out of place. Suddenly, he heard a squeak from Taifu's sock droor, and looked at Tip-tap, who seemed cold and alone. That was it... Taifu. "Oh shit!" he yelped - he had forgotten to meet up with Taifu. But why wasn't she back?
He quickly trotted back down the halls, knowing one person who could possibly answer him. He dashed across the moonlit yard, the night flashing upon him. He rappedon the door of the gardenhouse, nervous. "Kinki!"
"Hey Dib." She said, opening the door so it was a mere slither of a crack.
"Where's Taifu?" he asked quickly.
"Oh, don't worry, she's staying here tonight. Hard day. Just get some rest, okay?" she told Dib with a pleasant smile, and Dib blinked. He had ran across the schoolyard, through the maze that was the garden, his lungs screaming at him, simply to be told she was having a sleep over. He shook his head, and looked ack up at the dorms. With a moan, he made his way back to his room.
What he didn't see was that Kinki closed the door, leaning against it, eyes wide in horror. Her home was silent. Try with all her might, as she tried to see the fates, it was fogged, greater forces telling her that she'd have to await patiently for the knowledge. Where was Taifu? And as she thought of it, another thought came to mind. Where was Zim? And one last. Where was Tak? ___
Two AM - Note's eyes opened sharply, and he mumbled a bit. He had not only a headache, but also a desperate need to use the bathroom. Stumbling into the dark, hardly remembering where he was, he groped about until he felt the cool of a door handle.
He exited a few minutes later, his hands smelling of soap. He was about to crawl back into bed, but stopped when he saw Zim. It took his mind a long moment to remember that he had coaxed Zim into buying them a room, and he groaned, leaning against the wall. "So stupid...." he muttered. Zim would be far from the school he taught at, and Note very out of place as well. He glanced at the alarm, and decisively set it to go off an hour and a half sooner than it had previously been set to.
He stared down at Zim, and rubbed his eyes. Tiredly, he sat on the matress, laying on the opposite end, trying to keep his gaze on the wall. But he found himself tenatively turning over, found himself curling into the other man beside him. Silence passed for a long moment before he hesitantly leaned his head against Zim's chest, listening as the heart within it pumped a steady beat. He reached into Zim's hair, splaying his fingers through it, leaning inward.
Zim's eyes groggily slit open, and he watched Note's shy movements. They were careful, afraid to offend, afraid to even exist, but inquisitive and explorative, like someone who was not often touched. He surprised Note as he draped an arm over him, pressing his lips into the boy's forehead. "I'll hold you." Zim whispered as quietly as possible, and knew he had hit the mark as Note released a tremble, and nuzzled closer. This child had probably never been held in a passionate way - oh sure, his customers probably occasionally gave him a few signs of affection, but nothing meaningful, nothing felt from the heart. He felt empathy as Note clung close, afraid to let go else the affection be lost, but afraid to receive it at the same time. Zim smilled as eyes began closing once more, and he held his found treasure close, watching as Note wearily flickered out again.
Once again, he was able to close his eyes, his inhuman scences basking in the remnant jasmine scent of Note's hair, which felt soft and slick like satin against his cheek. He released a strange pur, and pulling Note ever closer into his form, slipped into sweet darkness.

(EEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CUUUTENESS UNBEARABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I got to make some Note X Zim pics XD)(p.s. SBROTHER!)
The alarm went off as planed jarring Zim awake. "GAH!" He jumped and groaned. "Gir stop it." He mumbled snuggling up next to something warm. His eyes snapped open. "Oh right." He yawned and stretched getting out of bed to reach the alarm on the other side on the bed. Some how Note slept through it.
Zim smiled at note and gently woke him up. "Hey Note." He whispered. "Time to get up."
Note groaned but drearily got up any way. He looked around lost for a moment a slight hangover clouding his thought pattern. "Oh We have to leave!" Note spoke jumping out of bed and stumbling a little.
"Why?" Zim asked confused.
"your a teacher, your not supposed to be out of school boundaries."
"Oh right, I knew that." Zim sighed. "Where are you going? I could walk with you."

(SBROTHER! XD Yeah, I'm a sucker for writing romance. hey, i've got an idea. what if Tak is trying to stop Zim's hatching with a time machine?)
"No!" The way in which Note shouted it left an eerie silence on the room, and he sighed, rubbing his eyes.
"Why not?" Zim asked, gazing down upon Note, who drew away a bit.
"You know the story of Cinderella, right? Just... yeah. I don't know. You just can't okay? But... that's okay." His dark eyes shimmered, and Zim stumbled into the wall as Note carressed his face, kissing him. Long and steady, but gentle, like a whisp of wind playing on his lips. Note broke off with a blush, and quickly grabbed his jacket off a chair, shrugging it on before he left, but not before shouting "I'll figure out a way to pay for the room, Zim! I promise!"
Zim stared after him, heart thudding heavily, and he glanced at the alarm clock.
Just enough time to get back to the school for breakfast.
___
Dib stared in disgust as Zim entered the cafeteria with a glazed-over look, sitting at the far end of the teacher area. How could he just take off with such a young kid to stay at a hotel? A kid who probably wouldn't hesitate too much to sell his body to pay the rent?
"Dib, where's Miyaki?" He was startled as Taifu stared at the empty place, and noticed it himself. The pudgy girl from the year previously also stared. Taifu's recent cold face went grim, her fingers curling. "Dib...?"
"I... I don't-"
He found a plastic knife held to his throat, Taifu's lips against his ear, whispering "If you did something to her, I promise that this knife will find its dull way through to the other end of your neck."
"What do you think I could have done?" Dib hissed.
"Got her pregnant."
There was a long silence. "She doesn't even know I'm a guy." he hissed, "So how would I get her pregnant?" Taifu took a moment to consider this, then pulled away, her cold eyes glancing nervously about the lunchroom. "What?"
"Kinki says she can't find Miyaki, even through the phsycic channel. The only way that can happen, though, is if the time-stream is being tampered with. Something wrong is going on here, Dib. Something very wrong."
